It is with great regret that we announce the death of Sergei Shalygin.

Ukrainian volunteer, member of the organization Pyatichatki - BAM (@ГО П'ятихатки-BАМ), colleague and friend.

Serhiy could have celebrated his 53rd birthday in 3 weeks (October 16), but it won't happen. He was asked to help evacuate local residents from the left bank of Kupyansk.

On the way back, as they crossed the bridge, the Russian army hit them with a Grim-E1 hybrid missile (similar to the Soviet Kh-38 missile). Two volunteers, four men and two women, died. Sergei had participated in dozens of evacuations in his lifetime, some of which we had the honor of accompanying him on, delivering tons of material aid, giving his life for others.

He recently took in an orphan who is currently studying at a firefighting school.

We express our deepest sympathy to the bereaved. To the heroes, kudos.
